Valvoline Max Life Dex/Merc AT Fluid

my local tractor supply has this product https://www.valvoline.com/products/br...ssion-fluid/37 on clearance for 99 cents a quart. there are 7 left. it claims to be ok for many vehicles including honda, and it specifies the required V-1 fluid. thoughts?

Sounds like a semi-synthetic.

i believe you're correct. i really don't need it NOW, but obviously the price is good for future use. just wondering if i could use it in the accord. it seems that hondas have issues w/ AT fluid other than the recommended V-1.

At 99 cents per quart, I'd buy the remaining 7 quarts now and ask questions later. I would have to be able to find some use for it.

my thoughts as well HC. i could use it in my wife's camaro. the bottle says it is fine in honda ATs except CVT, but i don't always believe what's printed on labels.

For that matter, worst case scenario, you have 7 quarts of bar oil for your chainsaw.

Does the Honda specify Dexron/Mercon ATF? If so, Yay! If not, should be fine for your Camaro.

i don't have the original owner's manual, but a search shows that OE fluid is not necessary, yet actual owners say that any other fluid causes issues.

Hmm...guys could I use something like this on my Stratus?

I had a mechanic do the filter change/fluid "refill" about 30k miles ago, not long after I bought the car from my sister at 89k. I know that its only a 2 owner car, but I'm getting bad symptoms from the tranny that I want to curb before they become any worse. I'm wondering if my torque-converter is having problems locking/slipping? Problems seem to happen while entering the 4th gear, its not a smooth shift into 4th but more of a "plunge" type of feeling, with a rather sharp RPM drop. Then it feels as though it likes O/D and me really being on it compared to just pulsing throttle, more of a delayed response in power. Torque converter symptoms or something else?

It's a '99 2.4L Dodge Stratus with 123k.

If you're having problems after 30,000 miles since the last flush I doubt you are having problems from worn out fluid unless there's other problems in the tranny. Certainly the first thing to do is to have the tranny flushed, and if you still have problems you may need a new torque converter.
