The vehicles I usually buy have over 100K on them. Since about the 1980s, vehicles and lubricants have been so good that several hundred thousand miles can be had if only good maintenance has been performed.

100K used to be a milestone when vehicles had major components that were often worn out, also odometers didn't have a digit for the 100K reading. These days expect to drive a vehicle at least 250K.

With that kind of extended use and age possible, cosmetic maintenance begins to play a more important role. Treat yourself and your vehicle to a thoroughly good cosmetic detail every 50K or so. Also paint and body repairs need to be maintained when needed. You'll be glad you did, both you and your car will feel better.

A guy in our church small group has a '94 Camry with over 350K and it looks absolutely fabulous and runs and drives like new. It is a real testament to what good maintenance practices can do. It's certanly cheaper than buying a new car every few years.
