School DNA Tests

"FOR MANY college students, "taking oral exams" is a rather routine experience. But never before has that meant students collecting CSI-type swabs of their oral cavities and submitting them for DNA testing."

That is how this somewhat scary column by; Dr. Kate Scannell begins. She explains why it is scary telling that U.C. Berkeley is now doing it.

I suggest reading the story and having a little chit-chat with anyone you know in, or entering, college about the consequences and ramifications of giving DNA samples. Anywhere. Any time.

Just a thought.

I agree with you 100%, Shatto.

i wasn't the most courteous student, and i could see myself at that age "swabbing" a stray cat or dog, sending those results in.

That was exactly what I was going to post. There's no way I'm so voluntarily feeding my DNA sequence into Big Brother. I'd send my cat's DNA.
