Tirerack offering LRR as an option while searching for tires
I was looking through Tirerack.com and noticed an option on the left side for narrowing my search results:
Low Rolling Resistant
Edit: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes Kumho eco Solus HM KR22 are LRR, have 6 Years / 100,000 Miles treadwear warranty and 2 Years / 24 Hour Roadside. Nice, especially at a reasonable $71/each! |
they've had that option actually for quite a while now.. Just tried that option again and it seems to actually be more useful than it was in the past.

Do LRR tires make a big difference?
|
they can make some difference, but the yield in FE may not be enough to offset the price. i say just research for your application, and find the best(or a good) rated tire.
i would even consider where the tires are manufactured. buy domestic if you desire. |
I would not pay much more for LRR tires, nor buy them at the same price with a shorter treadwear warranty. If choosing tires for cost-efficiency, long treadwear is worth more than LRR. However, if they're competitive in treadwear rating and price I'd definitely choose LRR.
|
What would be more useful is to show the coefficient of RR. I believe each manufacturer knows this number for their tires. Since it is a sliding scale and not binary, RR coeff would help guide tire selection.
