for you guys that aren't convinced synthetic motor oil is superior(or necessary) to conventional...https://www.safety-kleen.com/products.../EcoPower.aspx

might as well reuse the stuff that good enough eh? this would allow you guys to conserve right along w/synthetic users. the price is competitive w/ reg convention oils as well. any takers?

I use Safety-Kleen at work to recycle my T8 and T12 lamps and was just speaking to my rep last Friday about using them to recycle my fleet oil instead of Oil Distributing Co.

Wonder why my rep didn't recommend this stuff.

That is interesting. I wonder why I have not seen it at any of the places around here that sell motor oils.

I wonder if it is really just as good?

I use Safety Kleen at work to handle our waste, but they're expensive.

Your post is unclear...are you saying that synthetic is better? Are you saying that EcoPower is synthetic? From the link:
I was hoping it would say where they get the used oil and how they know that it is what they think it is, but I guess they figure that describing the distillation and refining process covers any of those concerns.

Anyway, cool stuff, though IMO a better way to use used oil would be to filter it and mix it into diesel fuel...it would displace the same amount of crude oil drilling with less energy used to re-refine it.

Most used motor oil already ends up being burned in ships, power plants, and building heating.

I wouldn't have a problem using recycled oil. The lubricating properties of oil aren't used up. You change it to get rid of all the particles the filter missed, and replace the additives that do get used up.

it is NOT synthetic. i'm trying to convey, if someone is confident in using conventional oil, why not use recycled oil. furthermore, it would put the use of conventional on pace w/ synthetics in respect to conservation efforts.

I would think that recycled and re-refined motor would be better than motor oil made from virgin crude, because there's probably some synthetic base oil in there.

i wonder what implications there would be if everyone bought recycled or true synthetic motor oil, leaving 100% dino juice out of the equation?

A lot of cheap conventional oils are already made from recycled stock. This is just branding an existing product.
