Which is why I will never buy a vehicle with an automatic tranny.

My Ford Focus automatic gets 22 city, it has a 5 speed auto and shifts right at 2000 rpm's. For city driving and traffic I can't beat it. Personally I can't wait to get a manual, it gives me more control, marries me to the driving experience.

The reason is because it's a six-speed, vs the manual 5-speed, and it isn't an old fashioned "slushbox". This transmission isn't your "normal" torque converter automatic, so there isn't the slippage you would get with that. It's a dual-clutch transmission. Basically, it is two three-speed manual trannies mounted side-by-side inside the same gearbox, and is clutched and shifted by the computer. It's much more efficient than a hydraulic auto.
