Mid-90's Mazda Protege?
Anyone have/had one? How do they do on gas with a 5 speed?
Looking at the specs, I like the fact that the Protege has a 14.5 gallon tank. Bigger than the typical 12 gallon tanks you see on most economy cars. At 30mpg that should be good for over 400 miles between fill ups. |
Re: Mid-90's Mazda Protege?
You ought to be able to beat 30mpg easily. From fueleconomy.gov:
1994 Protege DOHC: 21/24/27 1994 Protege SOHC: 24/27/33 1996 Protege 1.5: 27/30/35 1996 Protege 1.8: 23/25/30 The 1.5 should get over 30 without even trying. |
Re: Mid-90's Mazda Protege?
I have a 94 Mazda 323 hatchback, 1.6l engine, auto. Very reliable vehicle, easy to work on, fuel consumption is highly depended on terrain you travel, size of tire/wheel you use and amount of A/C you use.
I usually get 30-35mpg, 300-350mi. Per tank. |
Re: Mid-90's Mazda Protege?
I dunno about the old ones but my fiancees 03 slushbox is geared horrible for FE. 31-32 mpg tops anything over 45 mph because it's doing 2000+ rpm @ 45 :(
