Absolutely HATE toyota, but got to give credit where it's due. Solid axles front and rear, diesel, manual tranny..solid.
To put in perspective though, the rear ends are direct copies of fords 9" only scaled down, the 22r motor was a chev 6cyl with a mopar hemi head fitted again all scaled down. the front axle was/is a copy of a dana 30 then 44 axle. heck the landcruiser was initially called the land rover until landrover freaked on them and made them change it in 49 or 1950.
the new stuff..well north american anyways, blows chunks and are just now starting to deal with a reputation that no company could possibly live up to.
