Re: What are gas prices like in your area?

Filled up mom's car yesterday. $3.789. I know there was one station a couple miles from where I filled it up for $3.719, but the car wasn't very low (took just over 6 gallons) on gas so I knew I'd burn all the savings driving out out of the way. I always fill mom's car up when it's over at my house, the town she lives in is a very small town and gas prices are $ .10-$ .20 more per gallon there. She had a Dr.'s appointment here in town and a few other places to go so I thought I'd better fill it up before the price went up even more. Last week I filled up 4-2 1/2 gallon gas cans for her so I'd have gas when I mow her yard. Provided we don't have a lot of wet weather it should last her until mid-late June. I figured gas was just going to keep going up so I thought maybe it would save her a few dollars. Just since I filled the cans for mowing last week the price had gone up $ .10 per gallon. Mom is retired and since dad passed away and his social security check isn't coming in her income has been cut by more than half what they were both drawing so every penny helps. I try to keep the grass cut for her to save her having to pay someone $30-$40 a week to do it for her. She's worth it, I wouldn't take anything for her!!! Even though I bought I couple Mega Millions tickets last week when the lottery was $640 million and was hoping to win, if I'd have had to make a choice of the money or mom, mom would have won hands down. The money wouldn't have been any good if I couldn't share and enjoy it with the people I love.

So far you have saved $1.00 on mower gas.

We got all the way down to $2.76 right around Christmas Day. Now we're back up to $3.53 with some places as high as $3.64 a gallon.

Might we see $4 a gallon gas by Memorial Day?

We are having a similar situation in the Raleigh, NC area. Up, down, up, down. What I dont understand is how there is a 10 cent difference from where I live to where I work which is about 35 miles apart and both areas are fairly industrialized and city like. Where is the reasoning behind this. Its pretty crazy if you asked me!
