First coat of paint is on!!!
After months of preparation (i took my time, I admit it) the first coat of paint was JUST sprayed on my car. I'm letting it dry for a while before I do the second, and hopefully the third coat.
Then comes the clear coat. Anyway, here she sits right now. https://www.gassavers.org/files/gassa...t/P1010264.jpg https://www.gassavers.org/files/gassa...t/P1010265.jpg https://www.gassavers.org/files/gassa...t/P1010266.jpg https://www.gassavers.org/files/gassa...t/P1010267.jpg |
Second coat on
The second coat is now done. it was much easier than the first.
Looking good :) I'll have enough paint to do 4 coats, and probably around 3 coats of clear coat. |
four coats done...
I seriously wonder if anyone is reading this? LOL
Anyway, I was able to put on 4 coats of base (maybe it was 5? I can't remember). ANyway, I'm letting it dry for an hour or so and then putting on the clear coat. I need to hurry before it gets dark the the neighbors hate me for runing my loud air compressor at night time. |
Hi Matt, I'm reading this
Hi Matt, I'm reading this :) You've got more nerve than I do. I can do a lot of my own mechanical work, if I have the time. When it comes to bodywork I'm lost.

Nice!
I'd kinda like to fix all my dents, sand that surface rust, and repaint mine stock color. You're my inspiration, but that's not going to happen now. It looks very good, did you practice on anything? My friend told me to get a junkyard hood to practice laying it down well, and I might and then just repaint some doors of where my rust is. It's looking good. What is the stock color? It had so much crap on it at first I couldn't tell.

4 coats of clear coat later,
4 coats of clear coat later, I quit spraying. I still had enough for another 1/2 coat of clearcoat, but I just said, "screw it."
here are the pictures. I'm letting it try overnight (pray for no winds) and then I'll start putting the pieces back on tomorrow (bumpers, trim, etc.) I bought new silver trim a few months ago from www.hondapartsdeals.com and it's still in the box. As for spraying, I used to be an art major. I'm not saying that qualifies me to paint cars, but artistic stuff has always been rather easy for me. That being said, I've just found a ton of new dents in my car after this painting (black dents to bring the defects out, not hide them). At this point, I don't care. I also don't care that 2 mosquitos ended their existance in my clear coat. I'll just sand them out next week when I get rid of the orange peel. So, here she is with a shiny clear coat. I took these about an hour ago before the sun vanished. https://www.gassavers.org/files/gassa...t/P1010263.jpg https://www.gassavers.org/files/gassa...t/P1010264.jpg https://www.gassavers.org/files/gassa...t/P1010266.jpg https://www.gassavers.org/files/gassa...t/P1010267.jpg |

Overall though, it's a LOT better than when I bought the car. https://www.timion.org/files/images/car1.jpg |
