1997 Honda Civic LX 5 Speed
don't expect to get any offers, but i think it would be rude not to advertise here first to give our members an opportunity.
1997 civic lx (4 doors for those unaware) 5 speed...$2500obo orlando, florida 200k+ miles fairly new tires and front brake pads new plugs, wires, thermostat, radiator and hoses ice cold a/c and warm heat new air and fuel filter new aftermarket exhaust manifold/cat assembly power windows and locks all work working cruise control the car has some body damage(front right fender) when the previous owner slid on ice and struck a guard rail...slight dents, but not repairable faded paint all over and right rear door stuck shut(no body damage) try to post pics soon. the reason i'm asking so much is because i bought the car for $1500 in bad shape and repaired/updated maintenance myself. put more than a grand into it...tires included. the drivetrain, interior, and a/c is perfect. it burns almost no oil...no leaks. |
Re: 1997 Honda Civic LX 5 Speed
with no rad hypermiling, i get 40ish MPGs if i keep it under 60MPH and leave the a/c off. otherwise it dips to the high 30s.

Re: 1997 Honda Civic LX 5 Speed
My mother-in-law bought this exact year and model for my brother-in-law about 3 years ago. I cleaned up the interior and tuned it up. My wife did a bit of bondo work. The car is running well with over 250K on the clock now, and has not been touched since, save for an exhaust patch job.
Good car for anyone who is interested. |

Re: 1997 Honda Civic LX 5 Speed
thanks fetch. i love the car, but i bought the same car, a 96 w/ AT to teach my teenager how to drive. if i don't get what i want from it, i'll just park it until my kid gets a job, give her the 96, then put the 97 back on the road.

Re: 1997 Honda Civic LX 5 Speed
got my first real lead today after several "low baller" attempts. got a guy coming by to look at the car.
just want to ask you guys if i should stick to my guns in regard too asking price. with the drive train(altho high mileage), a/c, and interior all in great shape, what, if any is a fair compromise in price considering the car needs paint and body work. my thoughts are that paint and body needs are the best to have. i need a/c in florida, and a dependable drive train speaks for itself. of course a clean interior is always welcome. i'd like to get rid of the extra car, but i am willing to park it until another car is needed...when the time comes...maybe in a year. and should i mention that to potential buyers trying to get me to come down? |
Re: 1997 Honda Civic LX 5 Speed
According to Edmunds.com True Market Value for this car with the miles and condition is worth about $1310.00. Unless it was a collectors item or had a specific inherent value (such as a 1990 Honda CRX) this would be price that I would offer you.
According to Edmunds.com, the True Market Value is the average price that a car sells for in your region. And it is adjusted for options, the car's color and incentives. TMV figures, posted for free on Edmunds.com, are based on the actual sales of other cars of its kind in your area. The figure is then adjusted further for accuracy using sophisticated calculations designed by mathematicians at Edmunds.com. |
