I was talking full turns, but I also didn't realize you had a Ford carb - I was thinking a Q-Jet for some reason.

Contrary to the above...
Driving in mountains does not improve MPG, unless they are Florida mountains.
Much above 1,000 feet, the mixture will get progressively richer until the exhaust is smoking like a diesel.
That is why fuel injection automatically adjusts the mixture causing MPG to remain pretty much constant.

Addis Ababa is the same altitude as Denver. We used the smallest jets we could buy and they could have been still smaller.
If you spend appreciable time at altitude, Mike, change jets. Also, because of the temperatures you ought to switch all the lubricants to Amsoil, which could improve MPG.
