Headwind/Tailwind

One Job Day: 673 Miles
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-r...2/DSC02583.JPG

Vehicle mileage between fill up is in the center, trip mileage on the left.
One tank of gas, from Woodland to Etna and Redding.
MPG is on the right. The upper number is the adjustment for larger diameter than stock tires.

Northbound on I-5 usually features a headwind. Now, because of El Nino, the winds are flag stiffening stronghttps://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-j...0/DSC02408.JPG
and the drag drastically lowers mileage, but it improves a bit going south.

December 21, 2011.
I began my day in Concord, California. Drove, in the morning fog https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-w...0/DSC02384.JPG
to the California Sierra Express truck depot in West Sacramento then proceeded to motor north, way north, through the fields that provide much of the worlds rice.https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-v...0/DSC02337.JPG
past Redding, Shasta Lake
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-m...0/DSC02419.JPG
and Dunsmuir and Mount Shasta
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-A...0/DSC02440.JPG
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-C...0/DSC02443.JPG
to Yreka where I finally turned off I-5 and headed to Etna, the town, village, widening of the road

and delivered the massage chair,
sliding it from my Tundra into the bed of the customers Tundra so he could take it up to the ranch.

This country is where they grow those truckloads of hay we get behind and get pieces of straw stuck in the wipers and radiator.
Then I drove home.

Been in both places and I agree. 70 MPH for half a day and never getting out of corn or wheat tends to get boring even if they do feed the world.

We got soybean and cotton fields you can take pictues of in Arkansas. :) But we also have the Ozarks, which are phenomenal. :)

I'm in Indiana. We don't have the monotony of corn. We have soybean fields every once in a while to keep things interesting.

I just escaped the monotony of corn in Indiana...

I now enjoy *GASP!* Topography! Topography in the region of Connecticut.

Though the drivers are... *shudder* Just as rudely entitled as the people. I've had 3 near misses just from people who think that the order of "operation" at a 4 way stop doesn't apply to them because they have an Audi. (and one Caddy)

I don't know what the deal is but Audis do seem to have the entitled, hurried, road-owning jerks in them these days.

My experience has been more male-biased...maybe it's a regional gender difference.
