Which fuel economy website to trust?
MPGomatic and Fueleconomy.gov seem to have a lot of discrepancy when it comes to Civic gas mileage, especially the ones made 1996 and later. Generally, which site would you guys say to trust?
For example, MPGomatic claims that a non-HX 1996 Civic gets 35-38mpg highway. But Fueleconomy.gov says 32-35. https://www.mpgomatic.com/2007/10/16/...age-1978-2007/ https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymake/honda1996.shtml Thoughts? |
Re: Which fuel economy website to trust?
Down in the quotes, mpgomatic states that they posted the old EPA test numbers.
The EPA testing was revised in 2008. A formula was devised to bring older cars' numbers in line with results of the new test. You can still view a car's old numbers in its compare side by side listing at fueleconomy.gov. |

If you looked at the window sticker for my 08 Escape, you will actually see both the new and old EPA numbers posted for comparison.
