97 civic ex

Hi all been reading through the website for the last week and liked all the info so here i am joining. I got a 97 civic ex gets about 32-35 mpg hoping to increase to 45-50 or more.

Read the tips. Does the grill block work. how much does this increase mpg. same with the theromstat.

Hx wheels are 13 inch. do these help alot too? seems the tire size to get for it is a 185/75/13 which has a 23.30" diameter and a 185/65/14 has 23.60" diameter. Dont want to go to smaller tire size which will increase rpm.

Hx transmission has taller gears? Is this a straight swap or do the cv axles need to be replaced too. any computer issues?

HX Wheels are 14 inch. VX wheels are 13 inch. The HX wheels and tires should be the same diameter as the EX.

nice to know. any chance the hx wheels are light too. I understand the vx wheels are about 9lbs.

I think the HX wheels are a couple of pounds heavier... maybe 3. They're still much lighter than most, and still plenty strong. They're Enkei wheels, and they make some darn good stuff.

^More tire choices on a 14", too.

Good move for HX wheels. RockAuto sometimes has reconditioned ones.
