That's unusual to loose low frequency, my lows go very low with good headphones, never realized how good my hearing was until I tried it.
I used to be able to hear blood rushing through my ears with each beat of my heart if it was really quiet, now I hear this whishsssss constantly.

Be sure you get time release Niacin. My wife, myself and my mom have all tried regular niacin and it made our skin feel itchy and burning. The doctor told us this was common in regular strength Niacin and caused this problem in lots of people, but with the time release there was much less going into the body at a time.

Good point yeah skin reaction is normal like flushing with high dose.

Appreciate the thoughts.

My doctor must be good; he told me to stand by and sure enough, enough time passed that the initial symptoms went away
and now I am back to just the constant background noise, my own 'white noise' to block out outside sounds.
Only took a month.

I just had a week without any TV or radio with only a couple of laptop movies that were not even loud enough to hear! I also started a couple of days ago on 250mg time release niacin as you recommended and have not noticed any adverse effects yet.

Niacin is also good for lowering cholesterol.
