My 4dr VX Project.

So I bought a EG Sedan again.

Long story short, I ended up being the second owner. Met the original owner who bought it brand new at a Honda dealer in Germany of '94.

Its rough rough. Drivetrain is perfectly sound though.

I am uploading pictures at the moment so bare with me.

Currently in the process of Disc Swap in the rear. When I finish I will be doing Type R's in the front.

Then the Wire Tuck.

Then the turbo.

Main goal is to build the hell out of the suspension and Turbo the B7. :)

Prepping for the turbo. More cleaning, debating a wire tuck. Picked up some HX's tonight. Debating Blades or HX's.

Re: My 4dr VX Project.

Alil progress today before the rain hits:

Mounted the Manifold/Turbo. Ran the Feed Line. Cleaned up the Block. Thought about taking the trans out. And then I got a Call. So here's where I left off:

Oh and my trusty Snapon makes everything easier. :)

Cheers.

Re: My 4dr VX Project.

So its been almost a week since I have updated this thread. Sorry for the lack of photos. Been getting **** done lol.

Turbo, Downpipe, Intercooler pipes, Sandwich plate, injectors, and resistor box are all done.

Thanks to Gene at Murray's auto for the quick turnaround time on the tapped oil pan. Put in alil time grinding down the oil pan bung bead to get it decent looking. Then instead of painting it, I decided to go a different route. Was going to wrinkle it but decided against it as all the gravel and everything else that will hit it.

So I had a can of undercoating left. Fuggggg it, sprayed it down with undercoating. Rubberized and Tough as nails. Came out very nicely.

Really wanted to go AN fitting but the turnaround time on getting my hands on one was ehhhhhh. So for the time being it will be the generic rubber drain until I can get my fitting in the mail.

Then, my neighbors lil kid was being super annoying. So instead of being outside bolting up my pan, I decided to skip 100 questions with her and come inside to make this:

Being the wiring nut I am and the desire to keep **** as simple and clean with attention to detail, **** hacking up the OE wiring. I didnt have a 8 pin male connector on tap, so I grabbed the next best thing I had and repinned the female and made an adaptor harness for the resistor box. When I can stumble on a male 8 pin connector, I will put it back to factory. For now, it works though. I can instantly go back to OEM with no problems what so ever.

Re: My 4dr VX Project.

So I think the build thread may change a bit.

I just picked up a D15Z1 and thinking about OEM rebuilding it and putting it in the 4dr. I have everything for it but the exhaust manifold and fire wall egr black box.

I think it would be nice to see a suspension orientated 4dr with a Eco-Friendly motor.

Of course it would be tucked and cleaned.

Thoughts?

Re: My 4dr VX Project.

I'm anxious to hear about any progress you've made on your 'VX sedan'.

I've been considering this build for a while, and have been unsure of a couple things:

1. actual weight differential of a '95 VX hatch and a '95 EX sedan
2. am I correct that the sedan has a lower .cd & 'should' be comparable mpg-wise on the highway?
3. I'm wondering if gears 1-4 from a dx/lx might help driveability while retaining the VX 5th gear for maximum highway mpg?
4. comparing the engines alone, how much difference is there in weight VX vs. EX?

Looking forward to any progress you have made!

Re: My 4dr VX Project.

Boy, I thought no one was interested on this site so I stopped updating.

I have made quite a bit of progress. Difference in weight is only 200lbs iirc between chassiss.

Re: My 4dr VX Project.

I'm watching. Weight difference is closer to 300lbs. Add/remove accessories plus turbo weight and I'd say 350 more. Yes the cd of your sedan is probably superior to the vx. I'd just keep the lx/dx transmission. If you do go the route of rebuilding the vx motor be sure to increase the top ring gap 20% for heat expansion.

Re: My 4dr VX Project.

According to wiki, my weight difference is 181lbs.

Mines a 1993 DX Sedan at 2275 and the VX was 2094.

Turbo is gone. I have added rear disc brakes, lighter HX wheels, and a few other knick-knacks.
