My introduction

Hello to everyone, I was lured on here by SVOboy. I'm drdisco69 on Honda-Tech, pgmfi.org, and pretty much everywhere else you see that name. I'm a mechanical engineering student at UNC Charlotte in the motorsports concentration. You might say that I'm not an avid mpg fan, but do hold a casual interest.

I have an 89 Civic LX beater, which gets pretty disappointing mileage, considering it's 100% stock. Best around town so far is like 28. :( Then there's my toy, a 1991 CRX with an Integra Hype R motor. It gets a cool 34mpg on the highway driving "nice", 28mpg around town driving "enthusiastically", and 18mpg on VIR, driving what some might term "clinically insane".

I have some modifications planned for both cars, although none are really directly related to fuel economy. The Civic will receive an MPFI swap soon, and the CRX will be getting new cams to complement the header I put on last week. I'll log mileage for each car, as it should prove interesting at least. My rambling is done, for now. I'll see everyone around.

Welcome. I'm glad that

Welcome. I'm glad that you're finally here after hearing so much about you from SVOBoy.

DieMaster noted a drastic mpg increase after upgrading from DPFI to MPFI. It would be really cool if you could note the numbers for this as well for future reference. It's a pretty cheap and easy upgrade and if people are able to have sucha drastic increase for such an easy modification, I say do it :)

I also have an 89 Civic LX. I get high 30s (and sometimes low to mid 40s) in stock form. I wonder why there is such a difference between our two cars. Could driving style account for THAT much?

Anyway, glad you're here, and hopefully your expertise will be used.

PS, use the gaslog to track your mileage :)

He's got an auto, like me,

He's got an auto, like me, so that sucks up a lot of the gas.
