new scangauge

Gents:

Just installed this in my 2000 civic ex 5sp . Lots of outputs to choose from. Any suggestions on which ones to monitor?

I do instantaneous MPG, average MPG, water temp, and incoming air temp.

I will say that I have had issues with my coolant temps (water pump, and coolant leak) which I have since squared away and I have played with a WAI so that is the reason for those two.

I know that percent load is a good one and throttle position is another good one.

definitely use the X-gauge to make the average MPG tab. that is a handly little thing there.

I like instant MPG, trip average (think that's an XGauge), coolant temp, and (in my automatic) trans temp (XGauge).

Beef:

how is the xgauge mpg different from the instant mpg?

If you set up a trip MPG via the X gauge, it gives you a running average that resets when the car is off for around 3 minutes. thus it gives you an approximation of your mileage on say your trip to work. that is handy when gauging how much better you do without having to do an entire tank.

it gives you a wider window into your actual mileage. the instantaneous mileage varies and bounces a lot... you'll see.
