my name is cody, im from muscle shoals AL, i bought a 1990 honda accord cb7/f22a1/h2a5 5 speed a couple years ago for $250 and and old set of ford heads, i put a distributor on it and have been driving it ever since. i started wondering about gas mileage a few months ago so i came up with a few idea's, this is what Ive done to it since then, btw the before mpg was 26 city 28.8 hwy

removed the p/s belt
bought a new IAT sensor and mounter it to the exhaust side of the head
replaced every single sensor under the hood
new fuel pump/filter/regulator(this was a have-to situation probly not nessecary for mpg)
platinum plugs, 8mm wires, advanced timing to the max on the slider
polished the throttle body, ran a new intake hose across the front of the car(near the exhaust)
got it aligned
removed unnecessary weight

my city mpg is still not certain cause i only use this car on a 100 mile round trip with only 3 stops along the way but after doing the sensible stuff I've found on this site combined with my own experiments Ive driven 59.3 miles on 1.21 gallons.... that's 49 mpg yall!!! hehehehehe :rofl::rofl::D

What's this about Ford heads?

Minor measurement errors make a huge difference when your sample size is 1.21 gallons. You could have done even better (or, of course, worse). Also, if you're worried about weight, you ought to run the tank down instead of topping off after only a gallon; you're hauling around all that weight in fuel.

that was taken off a full tank, that's just how much i had to put back in it to get it where i could see it in the neck, when im taking measurements i only stop pumping when i can see gold.. err.. i mean gas lol but i ussually do run on $10 at a time. hehehe yeah the ford heads. i have an old 86 F-150 that ive built, and rebuilt, and rebuilt ... ussually for more power.. sometimes just because.. but ive acquired several extras lol
