99 dx conversion

Hello everyone. Just bought an all stock 1999 dx hatch with 72k original miles on the engine/ 5 speed tranny.

Love it so far, but down the road I would love to play around with a engine/tranny swap.

Was looking for a stock vx for months before I found my 99 dx at a dealer lot and couldn't pass up the deal.

My goal is to get to 45-50 mpg on my dx but that would take some careful maintenance and modding. I just added some hx alloys and ditched the stock steels.

Would a vx swap be too costly or am I better off going for an hx swap. Thanks and any info is appreciated.

VX is OBD1, and the HX is OBDII. It would be easier to do an HX swap.

Yes mate! your suggestion seems to be ideal. This is the best easiest option as far as HX swap concerns.
