Fuel economy benefit from transmission cooler?

Compaq888 mentioned that he installed a transmission cooler on his Nissan. What is the benefit of doing this? Does it just increase the life of the transmission, or does it have mpg gains as well?

Believe he did it to keep

Believe he did it to keep the tranny from blowing when using nitrous. I'd think it would hurt economy because colder transmission fluid would cause more resistance in there.

The main purpose I did that was because the oem transmission cooler is too small and the transmission can overheat very easy. I ran the cooler in series with oem transmission so it's like I got 2 tranny coolers.

Plus when you are racing it keeps your transmission cooler. That is how I was able to run 75 shot of nitrous without any transmission problems(knock on wood).

The car has seen more than 15 75 shots.

I doubt it hurts fuel

I doubt it hurts fuel economy because it will be hard to find the same altima as mine with the same mpg. The only ones that get the same mpg as me so far is manual.
