I didn't see any mention of cost. Most of us are a lot less interested in saving fuel than in saving money. That is the reason gasoline engines were developed in the first place, because they consumed what was at the time a dangerous waste product. Diesels were developed to burn cheap heavy oil, too. Cost was - and still is - the driver.

Good point. I like to think that making fuel from waste is potentially less expensive, but it would have to reach a scale that it likely would never reach for its cost to get that low.
