Actually, it was Compaq888 that tipped me off on that one. I noticed that they didn't have anything for me. I was talking to someone awhile back that said as long as I could find a pin-out diagram for my ECU that he could wire up an Apexi unit. I never found the diagram.

I meant I do the same thing that greddy e-manage does in terms of chipping ecus. In any case, I think megasquirt is universal, therefore you could use it.

I'm sure with the pin out you can get the e-manage to work. I have the pin out for my car.

The megasquirt and the e-manage cost about the same. I think it would be a more wise decision to go with the e-manage because it's more advanced.

Indeed, I'm trying to get my friend to go megasquirt on his BMW since his other option is tec3 for like 2500.

Yeah, I think you're right. Until greddy comes up with a unit for my car, I would be forced to try and adapt it to my car. If you had a Japanese typ car greddy may be the way to go.

As a honda owner, I might as well say that I think greddy blows, just for the record.

Why? I heard nothing but praise. The ultimate version of it there are some problems, otherwise it's ok.

I think anything that's not freeware based blows. CromePro costs 150, but it's really only used by professional tuners, so it's still good by me.

I personally don't mind paying for quality products. Often times people expect to get great free programs, but that isn't how our market works. I don't expect Honda to give me a car just like I should expect Greedy to give me their products.

Then again, there are freeware programs out there and they lack in a lot of professional extras.

Usually you get what you pay for. Ease of use is often worth the money if you ask me.

Personally, I think the freeware out there for this is better than most systems, and the support for it is also huge. Not to mention it is a global system that you can buy the **** and sell it when you're done, rather than dropping a few hundred on a standalone that attaches to your car like a cancer. Grr. Plus lots of standalones just plain suck to begin with. And they're not portable. I can go online and find a crome map tuned for a specific engine/turbo combo and be look w00t, but you can't play swap the greddys.

I decided to pay for my Hondata instead of using the free Uberdata for a few reasons. Customer service was #1, and a company that stands behind their product. I have called Hondata many times and gotten helped instantly. If I ever have a problem, I can lay the blame on them. I'm all for freeware if whoever makes it is willing to not make any money, but I'm with Matt, I'm willing to pay for a quality product.

That was taken from the forced induction section on honda-tech. Guy asked which aftermarket ecu to buy, something like emanage, and emanage was called crap and the freeware was suggested as being much better and user friendly, :)
