Where to get scrap metal?
I want to get some metal and make a bracket for my coil.
The bracket looks like this: https://images5.theimagehosting.com/coil.320.th.jpg I went to home depot the other day and saw no metal for sale anywhere. Am I missing something? Shoudl I try walking up and down the isles at Lowe's or Sutherlands? What about ACE Hardware? Would something like this be easy to make? Any suggestions? |
Do you have the dimensions?
Do you have the dimensions? Can it be alluminum? I can get small pieces of alluminum from where I work. The design looks simple enough to bend up in a bench vise.

He also wants $45 for this: https://images5.theimagehosting.com/battery.b3e.th.jpg I figure I can fabricate something like this up as well. I am planning on going to the junkyard today and hope to find suitable replacement parts. I won't find something for the same car, but I'm hoping that some of Honda's earlier cars will have similar parts. Another few pictures of the coil bracket (from a how-to online): https://images5.theimagehosting.com/03.e10.th.jpg https://images5.theimagehosting.com/08.894.th.jpg If I can't find anything today I can get dimensions to you. I also agree with you on the simplicity of the design. |
