Car "lurching" after gas change

I have a 1995 Saturn SW2 station wagon, standard transmission. I've always put the middle grade unleaded fuel in it. About six months ago I decided to switch to ethanol-free gas. Just recently the car has started "lurching" when driving at anywhere from 35 to 50 mph. Just a gentle "lurch" or "cough" and then it's okay for some distance. It may "lurch" a few more times during a drive.

Could this be a response to switching to ethanol-free gas instead of what I had been using all these years?

While it's worth keeping that idea in mind as a possibility, I wouldn't jump to that conclusion.

First place I'd look is deferred maintenance, such as overdue spark plug wires, and other diagnostic investigations usually used for that symptom (many of which are likely fuel system related and may be difficult to specifically blame on E10/E0/having switched).

I agree. I don't think its specifically related to switching fuels. The car is 19 years old. I'd look into other causes first.
