VW Polo Diesel

The quoted figures for the engine (UK) are Urban 70.6mpg, Extra-urban 91.1mpg and Combined 83.1mpg. I'm wondering if I can achieve these as they seem very high!

Hi welcome. Richard Hammond managed over 80 MPG in the Polo from Germany to London a few years ago, took some doing though. The official figures for yours are similar to mine, so i'd expect you to get late 60's early 70's MPG depending on how and where you drive.

Thanks, and it's great to join this site as I only used to ever record my mpg on paper. I don't think I ever saw that show, but 80 mpg is impressive. I did consider a clio because of their quoted economy. They are certainly very eye catching. Yours looks very smart!

It's a great site, it's fun and interesting to compare fuel consumption from others all over the World, and it's a brilliant way of saving money too. You can see exactly how much your car costs to run and get year by year reports.

Thanks, I've only had it since June but it's a great little car. My first French car. I thought I would miss the power of my old tuned Fiat with 170 HP, but the low down torque on diesels is great, you just plant your foot and it will go up anything in any gear! Fuel consumption on a long run is very good, but I tend to do a lot of short urban trips during the week, so it averages lower than it should.
