Loremo

Another low drag, low HP, diesel, high mileage car is announced. It's better to make high mileage cars without resorting to exotic technology like hybrids.

Will this baby be stillborn? If produced, how long will it take NHTSA and EPA to kill sales in the US? A nanosecond, for sure.

I hate to bring up old posts from back in the day, but i stumbled upon this car while browsing fuel efficient vehicles. I found a lot more information i thought some of you may be interested in... https://www.loremo.com/ the Loremo home page!! (click on English on the bottom)

Man, I wonder what a 112 horsepower 1.3L L4 Opel turbodiesel would do to this thing...

Similar concept to the Opel Eco Speedster. Lightweight and low drag = high mpg. That simple. However, this weighs slightly less than the Eco Sopeedster and has about the same drag. So the 50 horsepower model should theoretically get better mileage, since its engine is much smaller. But that's not the case. The Eco Speedster does 97 mpg, while the Loremo GT does 88 mpg. Me thinks that the Loremo GT's engine isn't very efficient and is on the low tech side of things, and that the Opel's engine is more efficient while having more than twice the power.

A car this light with 112 horses on tap would do 0-60 mph < 5 seconds. Given that the GT's claimed top speed is 138 mph and 0-60 mph is 9 seconds on 50 horsepower, think of what it would be with a larger 112 horsepower engine. *drool*

Judging by the Eco Speedster, with that engine, 100 mpg would be possible. Imagine that, a 100 mpg Ferrari killer. The Vehicle Research Institute at Western Washington University built such cars in the 1970s. It's a shame it is taking forever for such a vehicle to be sold to the public. How many more decades will we have to wait?

Is the Loremo actually going to be produced? I'd be skeptical. Did the Jetcar company ever produce/sell any of their cars?
