Monthly fuel expense

How about the ability to keep track of fuel expense on a month to month basis? For example, Aug $254.00, Sept $30.26, etc, etc. What do you think?

That's not a bad idea. We've been reluctant to do much with pricing since we currently just support US dollars (we're working on other currencies), and also because fuel prices are very much up and down right now it's tough to link driving habits with costs.

At the beginning of the summer, I was paying well over $4/gallon of fuel, but now it's over 50 cents cheaper, but my fuel economy could be worse and I'd still be saving money due to the changing gas prices.

It's not big deal as I have a monthly report in Quicken that tracks it but especially WITH the price of fuel fluctuating I like tracking month to month what our family fuel expense it.

Thanks for any consideration you all may have.

Even with gas prices changing it would be nice to keep track of monthly outflow. Would bring home just how much you spend on gas (especially when it is expensive).

Or possibly a price/mile.

We do have average price/mile already.

Average price per mile isn't the same as average price per unit time.

I can decrease my price per mile by driving more highway miles. Or I can reduce my overall expenditure (a more effective goal) by just driving less each month.

sorry, *average cost per unit time. Or average gasoline consumption per unit time.
