Gearbox and Location query
Two questions, first one I reckon is silly but just to be sure...
Say I drive a car which has 5 forward gears and 1 reverse. Is this referred to as a 5-speed gearbox or a 6? I've heard conflicting answers and am wondering what Fuelly's definition is. Second question is, I live in Orkney with one of my cars, and have left my other car down south. Yet I despite trying to edit the other car and typing in it's location, it keeps on showing as being with me in Orkney. Is this a bug? |
Only forward gears count when people talk about gears or transmission, the reverse gear is given since all cars have it. Forward gears are helical gears and the reverse gear is a spur gear, that's why most cars wine in reverse gear. The new Corvette is a 7 speed manual for example.

I think fuelly just uses the one location, wherever you set it. Nice 126 by the way, I had an 1989 BIS myself in Red with just 17,000 on the clock! Really miss that little car! :(

I wonder why your 126 doesn't show up in Fuelly unless you go to your profile and manually click on it. I know it's retired, but my retired Panda still appears amongst the Panda listings. |
That's because I didn't have enough fuel ups, cars only show up publicly after three fuel ups. It spent most of its life idling on the driveway during the winter to keep it ticking over ;)

you have five fuel ups though.
How come you no longer have it? |
Oh I'm not sure then. I sold it as it wasn't being used enough, I'd only done 800 miles in three years, so after mot, tax and insurance, it really wasn't worth running anymore sadly. Plus I needed some cash to fix my house up. I do miss it though, couldn't really take it on the open road as it's just not safe enough, guaranteed to die in any crash, I was scared!
