Filter all cars by MPG, why not?

I was browsing the site and soon became frustrated with how one does not have the option to search by MPG or L/100 km. For example I would like to search for all cars, from 1980-1999 which have consistently achieved above 50 MPG.

Essentially I would like the same power-search capabilites as this site, but with actual real-world, fuel up data to back it up which as far as I'm aware, only fuelly.com seems to have at its disposal.

While, I have read hints on this forum that the moderators do not want this feature as it may lead to hijacking/advertising by those with such impressive fuel efficiencies. However surely we can come up with a way around this? Say, by not including usernames when one does such a search? Only car data is presented and nothing more.

The issue is more with returning the search results by best first. The concern is that it will foster competition, which could foster cheating, which will defeat the purpose of the site.

But what you suggest should be possible. The question is whether they have the time to do such right now.

reviving the slightly dead... i was hoping to see a feature like this too... but perhaps comparing vehicles across class, with maybe filters on cylinders... so you could check for say, SUV, 6cyl, 2014-2017.
