Superchips vs Hypertech performance chip

Hi folks. Hoping for a bit of advice from anybody who has any experience of performance chips. I've decided to invest in fitting one to my Honda Accord and I have been trawling the net doing my research about performance chips for sale online. I read an article that suggested it is better to stick with specialist manufacturers such as Superchips and Hypertech. I've looked at a few reviews about both but would love to hear any first hand accounts or experiences anybody on here may have of either brand. Any preference? Pros and cons? Thanks in advance for anybody who could share an opinion or offer any advice.

Dieselly,

I don't think a lot of people on here are using performance chips, hence the low response rate.

I don't use one, but my understanding is that Turbo Diesels will respond better to being chipped as they can change the boost pressure etc. Some petrol cars can't be chipped (Lexus IS 200 for example).

And finally, Wheeler Dealers would always take them to get the chip fitted and the maps updated by hand, this normally takes an hour or so, but I believe that you will get much better results over just buying a chip of the shelf and fitting it yourself.

I would also do some more research on other sites, just in case i'm wrong (it happens, too many times!)

Oliver.

You are right in saying it's better going for a reputable company that has sold thousands, read some genuine testimonials and feedback to get an idea. I had a tuning box fitted to my previous car, gave it 35 extra bhp, obviously improved performance but also improved economy too. Your average car will be pretty restricted to maintain its warranty and long term reliability, truth is, these limits can safely be exceeded with no issues, modern cars are very tough and reliable. Buy one, try one and if you don't like it, they should give you your money back if they are a decent company.
