What was the gas price where you last filled up?

My last fuel up cost $2.829/gal (US) with 93 octane (AKI) at Costco in the northern suburbs of Chicago. We have two octane choices at this Costco gas station: 87 or 93 and no diesel.

How about you?

There's a free mobile app called GasBuddy. Or you can go to https://www.gasbuddy.com/ to learn the fuel prices across the country. They vary a fair bit state to state. Visit Canada for a bit of a shocker, especially considering that a US$50,000 job in America pays about CAD$50,000 in Canada (i.e., don't convert Canadian dollars to US dollars to see what it would cost an American travelling to Canada. Leave it at par to see how Canadians are being gouged at the pumps.) And yes, I know there are lots of places that have it worse than Canada.

I always have to stop for a second to remember you don't drive a Prius which answers the question of why would you buy 93 octane for a Prius. My last fill was $2.029 for 87 octane regular. $2.829 and 18mpg, wow, that's equivalent to $4.16 a gallon for me. Yikes.

Yup, combine:

*3.0l inline-6 (non-DI)
*6-speed auto
*fulltime 40/60 split AWD (under highway speeds)
*3649 lbs curb weight
*optional/package 17" wheels with 225 mm tires

and that's what you get around town with moderate to heavy traffic during the day, with some highway (~10-20%) and some mindful driving. Acceleration around town kills mileage. Highway is livable (~23-26 mpg). Luckily I don't drive much, but I totally think the driving experience makes up for it. The RWD manuals are way more efficient and easily get upper 20s-low 30s highway. So glad I didn't get an Infiniti G37, which get even worse mileage. I should be getting better numbers once I drive down to Arkansas for med school this fall (just got accepted). Probably go down to 89 octane as well (I've researched it and I didn't notice any discernible difference in mileage before).

I wanted to use Shell V Power, but it was £1.36 a litre or $6.48 per US gallon (£1.369 x 3.78 litre in a US gallon x 1.25 pound to dollar conversion)

I got the regular stuff at £1.209 a litre or $5.71 a US gallon.

Same as LDB, $202.9 last fill. Lowest price here (gas buddy) is $1.969 with many at $1.999. Still close to 3.5 cents per mile in the Mirage. The block heater is on now with ambient temps at freezing (8:26 eastern right now).

With gas prices falling I run my tanks down closer to empty.

With fuel prices that low, I'd rather drive something better, faster/more fun/more luxurious etc, unless you're really struggling with the dollar?

Here in Canada Nova Scotia I paid $3.41/ gal (US) for 91 Octane. That's in US dollars too. We can only get 87, 89 and 91 octane here; not sure why (probably politics). Also, they add ethanol to 87 and 89 here.

I ran through 100 gallons a week when it was 32 cents a gallon, which puts you where I was in 1972. 32 bucks a week 10 mpg 1000 miles for a 16 week stretch.

67 Barracuda Coupe 383 formula S, the year before a road runner existed in a 2700 pound car. Sold it and got a 900 Kawasaki Z1 for $1400. Had a 59 Vette with a Z28 engine and transmission. 65 first, 105 second, bury the speedometer in third. Did that decades ago before you existed?

My interests are elsewhere these days. If I drove like you did in your video, I would be arrested, vehicle confiscated and spend time in a cage.

Sorry Mate, that just doesn't interest me. It did 44 years ago, but for a very short amount of time before someone pulled out in front of me and I understood what to expect.
