2012 Ram 2500 ST 2 wheel drive gas mileage

just purchased the above truck with 58,000 miles. Somewhat disappointed in the mpg.
On highway 16 mpg and in the city 13. I realze it's a heavy duty vehicle but have seen others get better mileage. Taking the truck to work is only 3 miles from home with a lot of stops so i know that does not help.
Any thoughts?

Hi welcome. You kind of answered your own question, short trips with lots of stop/starts, the engine and fluids won't even have a chance to warm up. Have you checked the tyre pressures? You could consider fitting a partial grill block to help warm the engine up quicker. You can make a difference of about 30% in fuel economy just by changing your style of driving and perfecting your techniques.

You could try another method of getting to work, if that's feasible. Or car share.
To improve the mileage you do get when using the truck you need to reassess your driving behaviour. Try some of the techniques under "Tips" on your Dashboard page. Probably the easiest and most rewarding is the technique know as "Driving without brakes" (not literally!).
