New Tesla

So here's Tesla's latest tease, a 4 seater "spider" that can do 0-60mph in 1.9secs, 0-100mph in 4.2secs, the quarter mile done in 8.8secs and a top speed of over 250mph. 200 kwh battery pack, so over 600 miles per charge too. $50,000 to reserve a spot on the waiting list, and a list price of $200,000 to $250,000 makes it pretty cheap when compared to other hyper cars. Want.

I watched the Tesla release video, and not wanting to split hairs but the standing quarter takes 8.9 seconds! 10,000 Nm of torque. It is an amazing car. AWD, 2+2, detachable hard top. Wow. Top of my lottery list.
Their new truck is pretty awesome too. 0 - 60 in 5 seconds (empty) and 20 seconds hauling 80,000 lbs. 500 miles range and a 400 mile recharge in 30 minutes. Cd of 0.36. Drive train warranted for 1,000,000 miles. And never needs replacement brake shoes!

All these figures are off the scale mind blowing, pushing the boundaries of physics. What a company.

It's a Targa not a Roadster. Porsche has had them for decades. Very cool car. I might get one when I win the lotto. I'd probably rather have that battery pack in the S though.

Targa can only be used by Porsche. The term was first used on the 1966 Porsche 911 Targa, and it remains a registered trademark of Porsche AG. Hence the reason Tesla uses the term Roadster, which can refer to any car with an open top.

True, but I'll probably be like millions of tissue and copier users who refer to them all as kleenex and xerox. To me it's a targa no matter who makes it if it's solid and removes.

Which is where Porsche took the name for their open topped 911. And then trademarked the name!

Odd that I didn't see this, Paul. (shrug)
