VW UP! Gti

How fun does this thing look? Lightweight, compact with a dinky little 1.0 litre 3 cylinder turbocharged engine. It only has 113 bhp, but it's enough in a package this size. Lovely details both inside and out, and all the quality and refinements you'd expect from VW. Potential to be very frugal with such a low kerb weight and small engine. Have to say, I really want one, especially as it's only 13-14,000 pounds sterling.

I saw this on the Season 2 of The Grand Tour, looks like a great value. Most hatchbacks weigh a lot more now than the original Golf GTI, this is so much closer to the original.

Very true, cars are alot bigger now, and of course, safer. It's good things have moved on in that respect as I regard safety as one of the most important aspects of cars. Car makers are working very hard to reduce weight using technology used in Motorsport, not only does it increase performance, but economy and in most cases safety too.

I like the exterior form of that GTI. I dig the seats also.

I guess its not a true GTI, but its a smart little nod to the past, with the high spec trim level, it gives this fun little city car a touch of class. The steering wheel is actually from a golf GTI.

Joe,

There is no huge risk with the GTI, you will still have factory warranty on most MK6 GTIs.

They are great cars and the wet DSG box isnt the one with issues.

This is pretty cool and lets them start over on sizing. Cars keep getting larger and larger. The Civic is bigger than the original Accord I think and the same goes for cars like Altima, Corolla etc. that are at least one car category larger than when they first appeared.
