I am in the process of buying a Toyota corolla 5 - speed manual commuter car for my business ,,, /any tips on getting better mileage for my long trips I am palnning ++ better fluids in the transmission or crankcase or fuel additives or experience in commutting that helps // ?? ?? ??

Welcome. Probably find the manufacturers fluids are designed for maximum economy already, with fully synthetic oils in both engine and transmission.

Any one thought of a after cooler on the air intake to increase oxygen levels in the fuel mix,, condensing the air to more dense mix to increase the air to maxiium ,, too increase mpg.. It works on turbo models..

Hypermilers actually heat the air going into the engine. It slightly reduces the power, but increases the mpg.

It's easy. Keep to rigid maintenance schedule. Keep a proper amount of air in the tires. Make sure the tires are getting rotated. Add an after-market air filter such as a K&N or Spectre. Make sure your car has had a tune-up: new spark plugs, fuel filter, oil, etc. If all the basics are in play try to relax when driving and pace the drive. Everything can be incredibly detailed but start with these things and the fuel economy will be up without a whole lot of difficulty. You'll do alright. That's a good car in general.

Also, be gentle on the gas pedal. Accelerate evenly and gently.

If you have a car with carburettors then air filters make a difference. If it has fuel injection (as all modern cars do) then manufacturers air filter is perfectly adequate. Even a dirty air filter has very little effect on a fuel injected vehicle, other than reducing the power available. Makes little difference to FE.

Has anybody had good results with synectic oil mixed with slick 50 additive in both the transmission and motor, some people say it helps alot but it is not cheap to buy almost 32.00 $ for the oil type in the crankcase ?? ?? ?? Any body out theeir know if its worth the price of $32.00

Thinking of tring a intercooler on my non-turbo charger car..,, any body had any feed back about results on how it helps in fuel efeceneicy , improvement in torque ??..,, works quit well on turbo charger cars.. So it seems it would benefit with non turbo charged motors also
