An idea on hiding google ads
I had a thought regarding Google Ads that I thought I would run past everyone.
Most of the people who click on Google Ads are not regular posters. Usually they are lurkers or occassional posters of the site. As a result regular posters still see ads and can get rather annoyed by them. I was thinking of disabling the ads based on one of two criteria: 1) A small donation is made to the site to help pay for operating costs. OR 2) Any user with a certain number of posts will automatically have their ads disabled. I would like feedback on this idea, mainly the second one. If you like the second idea, what should the "magic" number be? 200 posts? 300? As always, thanks for your participation in our common goal to reduce fuel consumption. |
I think a certain time on
I think a certain time on the site would need to run in conjunction with the post count so as to discourage junk posts.

30$ ain't too much, mehbe
30$ ain't too much, mehbe suggested donation but then you get into stickiness. Most of my anime sites do donation and just have a count down and get like 5 bucks from some and 100 from others. But then again, marx said something about that...

the more you post,and time
the more you post, and time the less you have to donate?

$30 is too much. Also these
$30 is too much. Also these ads don't bother me one bit.
I use IE and I see them but it doesn't bother me. With firefox I don't see the ads at all. My attention is directed at the posts, not ads. If my eyes wandered all the time to the ads I would of never raised my mpg by 4. |
