MPG is still blank for high mpg hybrids
 

I was looking for a great result from Fuelly after finally making a gas purchase after driving 4,133 miles over 15 months and using 7.532 gallons in my Prius Plug-In. Instead of 548 mpg Fuelly shows NO miles per gallon. This is a major disappointment, especially since the same issue was reported more than a year ago from a Chevy Volt driver. I deleted the fill-up and installed the app to try again - no luck there, either. Is this ever going to be addressed by the support team?

Fuelly can only cope up to 299.9 mpg. It is designed for ICE vehicles, not plug in hybrids.

Supposedly, per an email to/from Fuelly support, they are looking at adding the ability to handle higher than 300 MPG, but their programmer has not gotten to it yet.

For now, my 760.6 "MPG" tank will continue to stay blank in the MPG column, and not show up on the graph. Oh well.

I'll be filling up the car here again for the second time this year (the previous time being on 1/2), and it will be around 5500 miles, so it'll be another fill up that doesn't show up. :lol:

If you aren't accounting for the electricity you used, then you aren't measuring the true fuel economy.

How do you factor in the electric cost? Does it just disappear because there's an electric bill every month and it is what it is and must be paid so it's out of sight out of mind sort of thing? If the true and actual electric costs are factored in how does it then compare to a non plug in?

In high electric rate areas, like New England, the per mile cost on gasoline or electric is about the same for the PiP and Prius Prime right now. For most of the US, EV is cheaper to fuel.

The issue for a site like Fuelly, is that ignoring the electric used makes the various entries for PHEVs useless for research. One person getting 100mpg can't be compared to another getting 200mpg if the electric use is unknown.
