2018 Tahoe rst

I have anew Tahoe rst with 6.2 engine and 10 speed transmission. It has now 300 mile but I’m getting like 8 or 9 mpg I. The city . Is it because the engine is still new not completely broke. In that why I get low gas mialge

The fact that its new and hasn't broken in yet, true. And the fact that it is a huge heavy SUV, has an oversized engine, powered by gasoline, and has an automatic transmission won't help either!

The EPA figures are only 14 mpg for city use, and everyone knows how optimistic they are. As Draigflag says, wait until the engine is loosened up a bit, and also, until you get used to it. My mpg always improves once I am fully comfortable and at home with driving a new vehicle.
