Picture rotation issues

I'm trying to post a pic of a new vehicle I'm tracking, and ran into an issue I had a few years ago and was never able to resolve. When I try and add a picture of the vehicle from my iphone, the picture appears rotated 90 degrees out. Attempts to edit the photo and rotate the image and re-upload result in the picture still posting sideways.

Would a moderator be able to have a look and let me know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

And while I'm here, I made this suggestion in a survey years ago, but it still bugs me. Could the fuel type not be changed so it remembers what type of fuel the vehicle being logged takes? If I select vehicle #1 and it's a diesel, could that not be the default for that vehicle?

Thanks in advance, I've been a user for a lot of years and love the resource!

As a keen amateur photographer I would suggest you are using an iPhone to take your photographs. iPhones are destroying the art of photography, and the amount of useless video that people shoot is just as bad. Why a camera should be designed to take shots vertically, when the world sees in the horizontal, only Apple can answer.

May not be the phone's fault. Many can take photos when held horizontally as easily as when vertically. Most people just seem to not know that.

But the iPhone causes problems when you try to display them outwith the phone! My wife has an iPhone and it is a pain.

Sooooooo, aside from using an SLR to take my avatar pics, any potential solutions?

I use 3rd party software to set up images. Tons of free stuff out there, Just Google.

I appreciate the response, but I've used several different software programs, rotated the image and saved, and when uploaded the image still appears rotated.

Like the other posters said, I think your issue is that you're taking the pics vertically and fuelly's software is automatically rotating the picture to fit their dimension constraints and in turn making it sideways.

This is what I would try: take a picture orienting your phone horizontally and then seeing how it uploads. If it still doesn't work, change your phone's camera settings to take a picture using a standard 4:3 ratio that cameras use and also take that picture horizontally.

FWIW, I took my truck's pic using my phone and it worked fine.

I'm not a big fan of everyone taking pictures and videos vertically using 16:9 ratios since they look bad on everything besides a phone.
