Was talking about this car with my brother today, and comparing how similar it is to mine, same size engine (although one less cylinder) same power output etc etc, biggest difference is that it's AWD. It has the same list price as mine, although I got a huge discount on mine for buying it with 4k on the clock, sadly I don't think I'll see the same discounts on this due to the exclusivity factor and limited production numbers, but definitely something I'd consider even if the interior is a bit naff and probably made from flimsy plastic...

I was interested to read more about this but turns out they just recycled the same article for their new newsletter. :(

Ha there's alot of that at the moment, what with the entire economy so quiet thanks to the virus pandemic...

Arriving at UK dealers this week, so they say.

I can imagine only the most dedicated Toyota fan boys will splash the cash on something so impractical yet expensive. Besides the AWD, it's similar to my Gti which is more practical, but if I could get a £12,000 discount like I did on mine, it might persuade me. Bad timing with the pandemic, not many have spare cash to waste sadly...

But the UK government says we all have spare cash and they are trying to get us to go out and spend it. As well as all those that are struggling to stay afloat (not many of them new car buyers at the best of times) there are thousands who have been saving cash every day of lockdown. There are thousands like my grandson. He has been working from home, no daily train fares, no pubs and clubs to spend all his money, girlfriend locked down separately, no shopping to do. He has built up a tasty nest egg during the lockdown. He won't be buying a car but has saved up the deposit for a house.

Sounds like a smart young man. Good for him.

Draigflag 07-15-2020 10:09 AM

Fair play to him. I myself resisted the urge to spend, instead transferring cash into my savings every payday. A week Friday, I will have saved £4500 since March, so I'm pretty pleased with that. My friends were bored and bought new TVs, bikes, games consoles, inflatable kayacks etc etc...
