My english teacher made us watch this movie, it was pretty good. I am an enviromentalist, but i think i am a climate change deiner(man induced anyways) some of the facts in the movie were not facts, which was dissapointing because i was gullable enough to think a politican would tell the truth.

about al gore and his electrical consumtion... take a read over here https://billhobbs.com/2007/02/more_on_gore.html apparently al gore is buying carbon offsets from a company he founded with 5 others...

If I founded a carbon offset company I'd buy from myself too...I wouldn't trust anyone else more, :p

As for global warming, maybe on a local scale (this is VERY true actually), but the idea that human activity is the cause of this not proven and can be debated either way.

After all, we have seen both tropics and glaciers on the same lands (as in the post above, how did the biomass get frozen? Was it the caveman and their SUVs?

.

There is no more debate, scientific fact, humans are the cause.

How did the biomass get frozen? you know the earth takes a different orbit around the sun every few hundred thousand years, more of an eliptical orbit that takes the earth farther from the sun, that combined with a big volcano or asteroid hit throwing tons of sun blocking debrie into the atmosphere could easily cause the planet to freeze.

Agreed. Here's lots of brain food in no particular order, some even dissenting.

Personally, I think this is the most dangerous point. It means that even if the entire planet is 99.9% sure of what the cause is, the FUD meisters will in Nick Nayler style, push the doubts as far as their profits will let them until it's too late for us all.

it's refreshing to know that someone like basjoos is a skeptic of GW. i had no idea. perhaps he chooses to stay out of this type of discussion for the most part.

obviously he is responsible in respect to the environment. i feel the same way--that pollution is the FACTUAL concern, not climate change or GW.

i believe we can and should support clean energy, but not at the expense of the economy. afterall who can afford green upgrades when income is lost due to poor legislation?

BTW, i too shall see the movie ONLY after mr gore shows himself to be worthy of the cause.

bowtieguy 03-08-2009 09:12 AM

i wonder how many supporters of the movie also study the other POV, such as...

https://books.simonandschuster.com/In.../9781416552192

tho it does discuss many things other than GW/ climate change.

same with fahrenheit 9/11. how many have seen fahrenhype 9/11 as well?

The DVD has come down in price on Amazon. Personally I think if anyone wants to give GM some bail out money they should watch "Who killed the Electric Car" video first.

bowtieguy 03-09-2009 01:48 PM

i haven't seen the movie and i like GM, but i don't believe they should be given a bailout.
