It looks really cool, except for the fact that this guy wants $10,000 for it.

And he's calling it a hybrid when it's really dual-fuel...

why can't they make a car that runs on air. I heard of a car that runs on compressed air. If they can install a compressor that can compress regular air then you never have to get it refilled. it would run for free.

But what about the gas needed to run the compressor? I can't see it actually running over-unity and getting better mileage than the ICE. Plus, it would have to be a pretty small car:

There's the whole perpetual motion machine thing that conflicts with the conservation of energy law (unless of course you are talking about atomic energy, where mass-energy is conserved).

Asimov was a big fan of the idea of minature atomic packs to power everything from coffee makers to air-liners. His Foundation series evidences this.

I think it would be cool, but accidents would be very, VERY bad...

Actually, ICE engines ARE giant air compressors.

Again the question of "what powers the air compressor?" comes up again and again.

The Foundation series was amazing.

Anyway, power out the socket is much cleaner and more efficient than power out of any car's ICE.

have a car covered with solar panels power the air compressor. or hook it up to ac power at home so the air compressor can "recharge" the car.

SVOboy 06-27-2006 04:29 PM

Solar panels aren't that efficient. The main problem with an air car is that the range really sucks. And a big as compressor trying to compress air fast enough to run the car will take a lot of power and space, don't think it was meant to be in the car with the tanks.
