Honda guys - need help filling transmission fluid
The VSS won't budge, and neither will the fill bolt.
I've read that some people fill it through the reverse light switch. Is this advisable? Are there any pros or cons to doing it this way? |
Can you get a torch on that fill bolt? That is what I used to remove the plug to install the EBH.

The fill bolt is always tight. I jack the car up and get at it from underneath. Put your closed end 17mm on there and whack the wrench with a 3 lb sledge. Works every time. I posted in the other thread for what I'd do to get out the VSS.

Matt: They make a torch for Propane/Mapp which is for high temperature's. The one I have is on about a 3 foot hose. When you light it, it has a whirling sound to it, like a idling jet, sort of. If you have or can get one of those, they get hot enough to braze very thin metal with, but they can get the bolt hot enough to allow you to get it out. If you don't have one, they can be a very worthwhile tool.

I would definately do like the others suggested and focus on getting that filler bolt off. You need that anyways to know how much fluid to add so you don't over fill it.

Last October they did a "service" on the transmission, which supposedly included putting new fluid in there. You would assume that the caked on black oil would be somewhat disturbed around the transmission fill bolt if they actually did do this. Surprisingly, it is not disturbed, but I am. :) |
