Vegetable oil fuel type
 

Hi, just signed up to the site, and loving it so far! One feature I'd like to request if possible - could you add SVO/WVO (straight vegetable oil/waste vegetable oil) as a fuel type when adding a new car? Believe it or not, there's a sizable number of cars in Europe running on this fuel, as most older diesel engines will accept vegetable oil without extensive modification.

The engine designations are technical in nature, not describing what you put in (we don't have "ethanol" as an engine type). Diesel is the fuel type on engines that can take SVO, and they can take Biodiesel of numerous formulations, but they can also take diesel so we call them diesels.

We will likely eventually let you put indicators on fuel ups that you bought a certain type of fuel, if you want to track things like MPG with biodiesel, SVO, and regular stuff.

Just to add to what matt said, we decided to leave tracking different fuel mixes (octanes, ethanol percentages) to each individual user because that can vary from fuel-up to fuel-up. So for now you could note when you're using SVO/WVO for each individual fuel-up in either the notes or tags fields. And our plan is to have more statistics and reporting around tags down the road so you can compare different fuel types.

Of couse it you are really crazy like my friend that has a 2 1/2 ton army truck with a multi fuel engine he can run anything! He actually was taking old motor oil from people at work for free and using it as free fuel! LOL! He can run on Gasoline, diesel, kerosene, motor oil. what ever. Of couse driving a big truck to work takes up a could of parking places! LOl!

Speaking of used motor oil, aparently if you run propain and synthetic oil you might not have to change your oil at all! A guy i know had a dump truck that ran Propain and his oil looked great after 200,000 miles! He broke a oil pan and had to rebuild the motor on it and the piston walls looked bran new! You could still see the homing marks. Synthetic oil does not break down normaly but just gets dirty from the fuel you burn. Running a gas like propain you have extreamly clean fuel thus the oil does not get dirty. Of couse there are exceptions to the rule but you can get the picture. NOw back to the regular broad cast.
