The other thing that they didn't put in was "codfishing"!
|

Every time I google myself I find something new. :o How often to you guys google yourselves?:p
I was interviewed at Hybridfest and I proofed the story a few weeks ago. I expect to see something new soon. |

Seriously... we need to start getting GasSavers in the news... any ideas? |

How about a 14 YO honda with 400k miles that gets driven by a team of drivers for over 1000 miles on a single tank of gas. I wonder where we could find such a car? Or we could drive a Firefly for 1600km across Canada on a single tank of gas. I would volunteer the VX but it is too boring cause I don't have the fancy wheel skirts.:p |
It's a pity there's no one in the NH/VT area or we could pimp around next year with this idea. I'm too far from everyone!
However, a civicy marathon thing would be great, possibly a competition of sorts, though small, to spur things along. |
Dan, do you know who coined the term "hypermiling"? It showed up in the Toronto Star today (bullet-list of the tips from this week's Washington Post article). I wonder if it's breaking into the public lexicon...
Someone registered hypermiling.com this week too. |
It was wayne, wasn't it?
|
The coiner, or the registering person? (Wayne's name isn't on the registration.)
Also, it doesn't really work for metric countries: hyperkilometering doesn't roll off the tongue, eh? :p |
the coiner i believe.
|
As far as I know it was Wayne. Early in the year Wayne, Tom and I were brainstorming about names and looking them up to see if they were registered. I think the hypermiler.com was registered back then too. I'm pretty sure that we checked that one.
|
Yeah, hypermiler.com was registered in 2005, Aug 5.
Hypermiling.com was registered last week: 2006, Aug 6. |

My wife helped me think of a few things last night.
First project: 1) I will get the car above 50mpg (if it isn't already). I will then contact the city of Salt Lake City and ask for free parking (remember how they give free parking to anyone with over 50mpg?). I will contact the news media as well, and hope that it gets picked up and other newspapers will also write about it. 2) I want to begin planning a trip in my civic. It will be on one tank of gas, kind of like a marathon. The plan is to prove that you can get good gas mileage without breaking the bank (buying a hybrid). I will also contact the newspaper in each major city I go to and ask if they want to interview me/look at the car along the way. This will take a little more planning and more aero modifications before it can be realized, but it would make for a really cool news story. |
Those are both really neat ideas.
