Official crxMPG news/update/suggestion/idea Thread

Well, I figured I'd throw this up here so that GS could be informed more easily without everyone signing up for the emails, which I'm generally too lazy to send right now anyway.

Here's the site: www.crxmpg.com

Current ideas that I have:
Anatomy of an FE car (pictures and such and which this and not that and generally what everything does)
MPFI write up
Auto to manual write up
Teg cluster swap write up
Some sort of general faq
General junk info
Links

Now, as time goes by I'll be picking away at junk. Hopefully I'll finally get some formatting done tonight, but please, everyone, give me some negative feedback/suggestions/links and things to think about/look at slash/slash.

:D

PCV is up, :p: www.crxmpg.com/pcv.html

i guess i'm not the only who who removed the awful antenna with the proper block off plate. i see old hondas with just the antenna removed...the same antenna holder in place...it's disgusting. :)

something wrong with your paint job on the roof?

SVOboy 08-28-2006 07:51 PM

Just the condensation of 2am, :)

SVOboy 08-29-2006 10:23 PM

https://crxmpg.com/all.html

I'm splitting up the main page into 10 updates per page and many pages. This is a preview of the place where articles will be listed and what the new side bar will look like. Lemme know whacha think.

SVOboy 08-29-2006 10:34 PM

Damn, I forgot driving technique! And I have two too similarly named things, too tired.

SVOboy 08-30-2006 07:58 PM

*shakesfist*

I got six hits off google today for antenna removal but all my google stuff goes to the front page and not the individual pages. Any ideas?

#1 for crx antenna removal is nice, but if it doesn't go right there, there's not too much of a point, eh?

I would move on if I didn't see it on the first page that comes up...

SVOboy 08-30-2006 08:05 PM

I know, me too, which is what pisses me off about google right now not getting the right page. My homepage isn't getting links on other sites, I don't understand, mehbe it needs to recrawl.

tomauto 08-30-2006 08:11 PM

how you have it...

It is decent the way you have it. The site works But it isn't perfect.

SVOboy 08-30-2006 08:12 PM

Critique away, sir.

SVOboy 08-30-2006 08:21 PM

Tom just suggested rotational mass, don't forget, ben!

LINKS!

MetroMPG 08-31-2006 05:28 AM

Put the title of each article in the <title> tag. (Right now every page has the same title.) Makes search results more usable.

SVOboy 08-31-2006 08:25 AM

MetroMPG 08-31-2006 08:29 AM

Also, I noticed the same Google behaviour on my site, and I ended up moving all the articles' titles back to the home page (where I was only keeping the last 10 previously, plus a link to a complete "table of contents" on a separate page).

Didn't want to (it's crowded up the nav column), but it was the only way I could think to solve the problem of "lag" between Google's latest crawl, and my latest updates, and visitors not being able to find the link they came for.

SVOboy 08-31-2006 08:33 AM

I think I'll stick it out for now, seeing as I've gotten 8 total hits from google out of ~2000

SVOboy 08-31-2006 10:36 AM

Search preview is up on the main page and all pages have been titled, finishing search, adding thumbnails, and an article or two to come.

MakDiesel 08-31-2006 12:07 PM

excellent site! (I give it extra points for featuring a car I actually drive vs. directions that tell me to refer to a similar vehicle). Anyway, keep the pictures plenty on all writeups and stress the importance of project difficulty/surprises, something I find in my project all the time. Basically, keep it up, my project '89 HF will be greatful. Mak

SVOboy 08-31-2006 12:22 PM

Thanks for the positive comments. I try to keep it globally applicable, but the CRX is teh sexness, after all, :)

krousdb 08-31-2006 02:53 PM

The VX is the 5 passenger sexiness.

SVOboy 08-31-2006 03:02 PM

Well, pretty soon we'll have something cute about the VX on there, eh, ;)

krousdb 08-31-2006 03:07 PM

E Gads man! A VX on a CRX site? What blasphemy!

SVOboy 08-31-2006 03:09 PM

It's allowed!

tomauto 08-31-2006 11:50 PM

The rules are bending in my favor. I shall say no more!

krousdb 09-01-2006 01:44 AM

Maybe the one on ebay with the blue flames to go with your current one with blue flames? Blue flames are a sure sign of lean burn as someone else pointed out.:D

SVOboy 09-01-2006 07:11 AM

SVOboy 09-02-2006 02:53 PM

I sent him the stuff at 3am or so last night, :p

SVOboy 09-03-2006 03:06 PM

Updated a bit with a convoluted article about instantaneous FE and a little overview of driving techniques.

www.crxmpg.com/fedisplay.html

SVOboy 09-03-2006 04:17 PM

Added some little teaser shots to the most recent 10 things to give it some more flavor, tom should be happy. I'll do the rest post run/final drive.

SVOboy 09-03-2006 09:31 PM

I definately took advantage of the last night with my car, did a little midnight driving and came up with this: https://crxmpg.com/accelmpg.html

Hope it'll contribute a little bit to our ongoing discussion on the subject.

tomauto 09-03-2006 09:46 PM

Very nice indeed! That fills my mind with happy notions!

SVOboy 09-03-2006 09:47 PM
