Engine Types

What's up with engine types? My truck is a 2.7 liter 4 cylinder, what does that come under?

If you have a 4 cylinder engine, that's typically an inline-four. In our system we call those L4 for short. Wikipedia says they're abbreviated I4.

We don't track the displacement size here, so there's no place to put your 2.7 liter bit. You could always throw that into your truck's description.

I KNOW it's an inline 4. Maybe there should be an "info" pane connected to engine type that gives users choices among alternative naming conventions.

I'm using the fuelly badge in another forum and wanted the correct engine type to show up in the badge - not in the vehicle description...

We don't have any plans to update the badges right now. You could always remove the "L4" from your badge by removing it from your vehicle listing. You can go to your truck profile page, click "Edit this Car". From the edit page click "Change Type" at the top, then under Engine choose "Other", then change select the top "Engine Types" to choose nothing. Update your profile, and that will be gone from your badge.
