why do some of the tags say "hypermiler" and some don't?

20% over EPA is considered hypermiler.

I just have to increase my average by 1%!!

I'm at 19% right now. But my tanks have been high lately so I might get bumped up to hypermiler status in a few more tanks!

Is it me, or are newer cars harder to hypermile? I'm informally seeing a trend that the new vehicles purchased are having a tougher time, perhaps because they're already efficient? I guess it just means we'll have to try harder.

The only reason my car is getting such bad gas mileage is the fuel injectors. Some dumbass put 7 new 19lb/h injectors in place of hte stock 14's. I have no idea why anyone would do that, or how they did that and didn't notice their mistake. Also curios as to how he missed one of them. Who buys 7 new injectors for their v8 GRRRR

That has to wreak havoc with the operation of the engine -- one cylinder isn't getting as much fuel as the other 7. I wonder if it's possible to go carbeurated and give up on the FI's? You should be getting at least 18 without mods to driving style. Do you know when the Lincolns went to EFI?

Interesting idea. But I think it has to do more with breaking in the engine and learning the nuances of each car and tricks of the hypermiling trade. Also with a new car most don't want to do anything that might void the warrenty:D
